We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Lvliang Travel Guide

Location: Lvliang(吕梁) is situated in the middle-west of Shanxi Province, the middle section of Lvliang Mountain.

Population: 3,830,000

Area: with an area of 21,143 square kilometers

Nationalities: Han nationality distributes almost of the Lvliang city.

History: Lvliang has a long history. As early as the Spring-and-Autumn Period, Qu County, Ping Ling County and Zhongyang County were set up in this territory. In BC 376, it became part of Zhao State. In BC 246, Taiyuan Capital was set up and the region was under the administration of Taiyuan Capital.

In 2003, Lvliang was approved to be a prefecture-level city by the State Council. Lvliang is famous for Chinese wine and Chinese wine culture, as Fen Chiew originated from there. During the Chinese civil war, the region became a revolutionary base for Chairman Mao, Liu Shaoqi, Zhou Enlai and Deng Xiaoping.

Climate: Lvliang enjoys a temperate continental monsoon clilmate with four distinct seasons. The average temperature in January falls between -9.7℃ and -4.9℃. About sixty percent of the rainfall is during June to August. May to October is the most favorable for traveling to Lvliang. 

Transportation: Railway- JieXi Railway, Taizhongyi Railway and Xiaoliu Railway throughout Lvliang city.

Highway- China National 307 and 209 run through the whole city and form a transport net with Qing-Yin Hightyway and Tai-Jia Highway.

Specialties: Lvliang is rich in excellent local specialties for its abroad territory such as the celebrated dough sculpture in Lan county, Paper cut in Lvliang and Shadow puppet in Xiaoyi.

Local Food: Noodles is the main food in Lvliang just like other cities in Shanxi Province.

Attractions: Qikou Ancient Town-Qikou ancient town is sited along the west edge of Yellow River and the majestic Mt. Wuhou. For its special port situation, Qikou ancient town attracted many merchants centuries ago. Houses in the style of Ming and Qing Dynasty stand along the streets, which are granted as the first views in Qikou Ancient Town.
