History: With more than 2100 years history as a city, Liuzhou is abundant in cultural and historic relics. According to the record of historic relics, it is safe to conclude that people had been settled in Liuzhou since the end of palaeolithic period 50 thousand years ago. The city was initially formed during Han Dynasty, which was named as Tanzhou. In A.D. it was transferred into Liuzhou during Tang Dynasty and the government also set up Longcheng County here. Therefore Liuzhou is commonly known as the cradle of the local residents in ancient southern China.
Climate: Liuzhou is located in the mid-north region belonging to subtropical climate under monsoon influence. Summer here is dominated by south wind, relatively high temperature and humid rate, with ample precipitation, whereas the winter here is dry, cool and short. The city is abundant in natural resources including solar, energy and water resources, while the geographical feature is also distinctive within the region, as northern region reveals prevailingly mountainous climate feature, the annual mean temperature of which is 18.1-19.4℃(64.58-66.92℉), while other regions is somewhat 1-2℃ higher. The average lowest temperature is 7.2-10.4 in January, whereas the average highest temperature is 27.2-28.9 in July. It usually rains from April to September.
Transportation: Airways- Liuzhou Bailian Airport is located in the southern suburban region of Guangxi, 12 kilometers from the urban area of Liuzhou. This 4D-standard airport occupied an area of 400 hectare, with the runway measuring 2540 in length, 60 meters in width, which is available for the landing and taking off of most of the medium-sized aircrafts. Recently the airport has opened up directed airlines which are available to most metropolises including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhou, Haikou and so forth.

Attraction: Dalongtan Park(大龙潭公园)- Dalongtan Park is located in the southern of Liuzhou, merely 3 kilometers away from the center, with a planned area of 544 hectare. Combining the natural karst landscape and the exotic culture of minorities in southern China, the park is constructed for both the research and the introduction of subtropical karst plants, as well as serving for the tourism usage. There are verdant trees and numerous mountain ranges surrounded the park, as Mount Wohu, Meinv Peak, Mount Kongque and other peaks are of distinctive appearance, towering the Jing Lakem, Long Pond and Lei Pond.
There is a portion of stream dropping from the cliff which accumulates into Long Pond between Mount Lei and Mount Long, intersecting with the underground river and gush into the Jing Lake as a vivid dragon. In addition to Mount Lei and Mount Long, other mountains are also skillfully resembles the shapes of the figures in legends.
Event: “Hill Meeting of Miao Nationality”(苗族坡会)- It usually lasts from 3rd to 17th in the first month of Lunar year, which combines songs, dance and happiness together. During the festival period, all the youngsters will put on their splendid costumes, centering on Gulong Hill, playing instrument, watching dragon dance and lion dance, as well as holding horse and birds contest. Besides, the festival is also celebrated for the reunion of relatives and friends.
