We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Location: Liaoyang (辽阳) is in the middle part of Liaoning Province, borders Liaodong Mountainous region in the east and faces Liaohe Plain in the west.

Area: with an area of 4,744 square kilometers

History: Liaoyang is an ancient cultural city with a history of more than 2,400 years. From 3rd century BC to 17 century, Liaoyang had always been the politic, economic and cultural center and the town of military importance.

Climate: The climate in Liaoyang changes depends on its various geographies. The eastern hilly area has a monsoon-influenced temperate humid climate, featuring heavy rain. The annual average precipitation is 800-900, a majority of which occurs in summer. The annual temperature averages from 6℃-10℃. The northern hilly-plain region is under the influence of temperature semi-humid monsoon climate with the characteristic of long freezing period and lower temperature.

The annual average temperature ranges between 6℃and 8℃. The plain area along the river in the west has a temperate semi-humid climate with hot summers and cold winters. The annual mean temperature is 8℃-9℃ and has a free-frost period of 160 days. The rainfall ranges between 600-800mm.

Transportation: Railway- Shenyang-Dalian Railway and Harbin-Dalian Railway stop at Liaoyang Railway Station, which is a comprehensive station for ordinary train and high-speed trains.

Highway- Long-distant buses to Beijing, Chifeng, Panshi, Tonghua, Jinan, Tianjin, Changchun, Dandong, Fuxin, Liaozhong are available in Liaoyang Coach Station.

Specialties: Liaoyang has three treasures including sugarloaf, dries pear and wula sedge.

Local Food: Tanghe fish, derived from unstained Tanghe reservoir is the characteristic brand of Liaoyang.

Attractions: Huayan Temple-Huayang Temple, situated in Huayang village, Bahui Town, was built in Yuan Dynasty originally. In history, the temple was in magnificent scale with layers of Buddha palace and solemn pagoda forest. In golden age, the temple once accommodated over 300 monkes.
