Lanzhou Transportation
Lanzhou, as the capital of Gansu Province, is one of the most important railway and air traffic centers in west China. It has been formed a fairly advanced transportation network. Lanzhou is accessible by extensive rail and road links that radiate in all directions.
Air
Zhongchuan Airport, about 70km north of town, operates 40 air routes to other cities of China, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu and Hong Kong. And the air flights will be adjusted according to the demand in different seasons to meet the requirements of the visitors.
Railway
Lanzhou is the intersection point of four major railway lines: the Lanzhou-Lianyungang line, the Lanzhou-Urumqi line, the Lanzhou-Xining line and the Lanzhou-Baotou line. Lanzhou Railway Station is located in the southern part of the city. There are nearly 60 trains departing from Lanzhou every day, connecting Lanzhou to Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Qingdao, Jinan, Changsha, Chengdu, Xi’an and Urumqi as well as neighboring cities within Gansu Province.
Highway
Lanzhou is the hub of the road transportation system in Gansu Province. There are seven long-distance bus stations in town and four state-level expressways pass the city, thereinto, Lanzhou East Bus Station and Lanzhou West Bus Station are the two largest ones connecting Lanzhou to Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Qingdao, Jinan, Changsha, Chengdu, Xi’an and Urumqi as well as neighboring cities within Gansu Province.
Public City Bus
The public transport system in Lanzhou is well developed, with bus routes covering almost every corner of the city. You can take a bus to most places of the city, especially to the scenic spots. Bus No.1 and Trolley bus No.31 both run from the railway station to the West Bus Station. Bus No.7 and 10 also run from the railway station and head west. There are also many cabs that run through the night.
Taxi
There are over 8,000 taxis in Lanzhou, which are convenient and cheap. The common type of taxi in Lanzhou is Xiali, Lingyan, Fukang, Jetta and Kia. The fair stars at RMB 7 for the first three kilometers, with every additional kilometer costing RMB 1.4. Night rates increase to RMB 1.6 per additional kilometer.
