We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Enshi Travel Guide

Location: Enshi (恩施), in the southern part of Hubei Province, borders Shennongjia to the north.

Population: 3,970,000

Area: 24,111 square kilometers

Nationalities: Enshi is the only Minority Autonomous Prefecture in Hubei Province, where gathers Han, Tujia, Miao, Dong, Hui, Mongolia, Li, Naxi and Zhuang.

History: As far as the Spring and Autumn Period, Enshi was under the domination of Bazi Kingdom. Until 1728, Qing Dynasty, Enshi County was set up. After the liberation of Enshi in 1949, Enshi Administrative Area was found. In 1983, the administrative area was concelled and established Exi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture and the named was changed into Enshi Tujian and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in 1993.

Climate: Under the influence of subtropical monsoon humid climate, Enshi has short, cool winters, hot, humid summers, and high humidity year-round. The annual average temperature is different based on the height of the terrain. The lowest area is 16.3℃ annually and the highest one is 7.8℃. The monthly 24-hour average temperature ranges from 5.0 °C in January to 26.7 °C  in August. The prefecture seat receives only 1,212 hours of bright sunshine annually, while the free-frost period lasts for 348 days in the lowest territory and the 233 days in the highest area.

Transportation: Airline-Enshi Xujiaping Airport was built in 1986 and opened airlines to Beijing and Shanghai in 2008.

Railway-Enshi Railway Station has trains to Beijng, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guizhou, Hangzhou, Nanchang, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Wuhan, Nanchang,etc. The Yichang-Wanzhou Railway cross Enshi from east to west, connecting Enshi and Wuhan.

Highway- Scheduled buses to Enshi from Yichang, Chongqing and Wuhan can be available everyday. The G42 Shanghai-Chengdu Expressway, routed along Yichang-Wanzhou corridor, is under construction.

Waterway-The Si Du River Bridge is the highest bridge in the world.

Local Specialties: The traditional delicate paint chopsticks have a long history. Tujia brocade is worthy of collection for exquisite pattern.

Local Food: Local Tujia and Miao Nationalities’ characteristic snacks attracts travelers very much.

Attractions: Enshi Tusi City- Enshi Tusi City (恩施土司城) is mainly made up of three parts including national culture display area, religion display area and entertainment area. The traditional architectures of Tujia, Miao and Dong Nationalities could be found that present the different characteristic of each national architecture and sculpture.
