We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

The Imperial Palace

The Imperial Palace, also known as the palace building which is the essence of the Han construction.  The ancient emperors in order to consolidate their rule, highlight the imperial majesty, meet and enjoy spiritual and material life, they constructed huge and imposing buildings. Most of these buildings are splendid and magnificent. Chinese ancient palace take strict axial symmetry layout. The ancient palace building itself is divided into two parts, namely, "front hall and the sleeping hall": "the front hall" is the place where the emperors dealt with political affairs and held ceremonies; "the sleeping hall "is the place where the emperor and Empress who live their lives. Chinese palace architecture epitomizes the origins of Chinese culture.

Beijing Forbidden City
Beijing Forbidden City is the representative of Chinese imperial palace. The Forbidden City is located in the center of Beijing city and as many as twenty-four emperors once lived there. It is the imperial palace in the Ming and Qing dynasties. Forbidden City palace building, is China's largest, most complete ancient building complex with a total area of over 720,000 square meters。Forbidden City palace has 9999 and one half buildings, known as the "halls of the sea". Whether layout, three-dimensional effect, or the form of majestic, are unequaled masterpiece, superb craftsmanship and enduring architectural artistic value, clearly showing the wisdom and strength of the ancient Han Chinese working people.

The Palace is surrounded by several meters high red walls and the perimeter is over 3400 meters. The outside of the walls is the moat wall. Large scale of the Forbidden City, a unique style, the gorgeous furnishings, the splendid architecture, altogether making the palace extremely rare in the world. The Forbidden City is divided into two parts, the first part is where the emperor held a major ceremony, issued an order. The main building are Hall of Supreme Harmony, Hall of Central Harmony and the Hall of Preserving Harmony. The back part of the Forbidden City - "Inner Court" is the place where the Emperor and Empress were dealing with government residence. This part’s the main buildings are Heavenly Purity, Palace of Earthly Tranquility, Imperial Garden, etc.


















Epang Palace
Epang Palace a huge palace built in Qin dynasty. Its ruins is located in 15 km west of Xi'an Epang village area. It is a national key cultural relics protection units. Epang Palace was built in Lishan Mountain after Emperor Qin Shihuang unified China. Epang Palace is considered to be the largest palace of China's history.

Records of the Grand History of China" said that when Emperor Qin Shihuang unified China, he thought that his achievements can be compared with the Sovereigns and Five Emperors. He suspected capital Xianyang palace was too small to show their majesty reigns. Thirty-five years in the First Emperor, namely 212 BC, he ordered to build massive palace communities in the south of Weihe River and in the west of Zaohe River. Subsequently, Epang Palace front hall as the center, they had built a dense concentration of buildings more than 270 seats.

Palace of Eternal Happiness
In 202 BC, the Han emperor ordered to finish the completion of the Palace of Eternal Happiness based on the Xingle Palace built in Qin Dynasty. The Palace is one of three Han major palaces. Palace of Eternal Happiness is the political center of the Western Han Dynasty, which on the whole palace consists of four groups: Changxin Hall, Changqiu Hall, Yongshou Hall and Yongning Hall. Palace of Eternal Happiness is the place where the Han Emperor deal with government affairs. Historically, Palace of Eternal Happiness was called "Orient House."


















Yuanmingyuan Imperial Garden
Yuanmingyuan Imperial Garden is the perfect combination of palaces and gardens. In history, the Yuanmingyuan Imperial Garden was composed by Yuanming Garden, Changchun Garden and Qichun Garden, covering an area of 5200 acres (350 hectares). There are hundreds of scenic spots inside the garden. To the reign of Emperor Qianlong, the Qing Dynastyis strong enough. As a result, the construction of Yuanmingyuan Imperial Garden reached its climax and Yuanmingyuan Imperial Garden was expanded in an unprecedented scale. Weiyang Palace
Weiyang Palace in the southwest of Chang'an City and it is a place where the held morning meetings. Weiyang Palace was first built in seven years of the first Han emperor (200 BC). The court moved here in nine years of the first Han Emperor and after that it had been a center of political domination of Western Han Dynasty.

The overall layout of the rectangular, walled on all sides. The east and west walls are 2150 meters long respectively while the north and south walls are 2250 meters long respectively. The whole house covers an area of about five square kilometers, accounting for about one-seventh of the total area of the city. Since the completion of Weiyang Palace, the emperor of the Han Dynasty lived here so that it's far more famous than other palaces. In the world of poetry, Weiyang Palace has become synonymous the Palace of Han Dynasty.
