We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Mountain Changbai
The Changbai Mountain Range is a mountain range on the border between China and North Korea, considered as a part of Manchu-Korean mountain range, which separates China from Korea and Russian Primorsky Krai. The range extends from the Northeast Chinese provinces of Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning to the North Korean provinces of Ryanggang and Chagang. Most peaks exceed 2,000 meters in height, among which Changbai Mountain(长白山).

The range stands for the mythical birthplace of the ancestors of Nurhaci and the Aisin Gioro Imperial family, who were the founders of the Manchu state and the Chinese Qing Dynasty. The name literally means "Perpetually White Mountain Region" in Mandarin Chinese. With the booming of tourism, it is available for tourists to appreciate the refreshing snow scenery all year round.

Baiyun Peak is the highest among Changbai Mountain Range, an active volcano which is also known locally in China as Changbai Mountain. Baekdu Mountain is the source of the Songhua, Tumen (Tuman) and Yalu (Amnok) rivers. Many tributaries of the Liao He also originate from the Changbai Mountains.

The Changbai Mountain has a temperate continental climate, characterized by freezing winter, cool, short and changeable summer, windy spring and autumn foggy, with an annual average temperature at -7 °C to 3 °C. In January, the temperature drops to as low as −45°C (−49°F), whereas it reaches 17°C (62°F) in July. Precipitation is comparatively high in the summer, with annual averages reaching 1,150 mm (45 inches) and over 300 mm (12 inches) in July alone. Under the impact of vertical changes of mountainous terrain, there are four landscape belts from the foot to the top of the mountain, from Temperate Zone to Frigid Zone, which is rare in the world.

The rugged terrain of the Changbai Mountains provides refuge for many rare animals, including Amur leopards, bears, and Siberian tigers. A large portion of the Jilin Province side has been under protection of Changbai Nature Reserve, under the program of UNESCO's "Man and Biosphere", which covers more than 2,100 square kilometers.

The vegetation of the mountain slopes is divided into several different zones. At the top, above 2000 meters, tundra predominates. From 1700 to 2000 meters, vegetation is dominated by mountain birch and larch. Down to 1100 meters, the dominant trees are spruce, fir, and Korean pine. From 600 to 1100 meters, the landscape is covered by mixed forest, including Amur linden, Korean pine, maple, and elm.

The range plays an important economic role. It is well-known for the huge outputs of ginseng and other precious herbs there. In addition, the heavily forested slopes are important areas for logging. Nowadays, with its majestic scenery and countless precious preserve, the Mountain has transferred into a prosperous travel spot that draw heed of tourists all around the world. Besides, it is also a place that contains a rich variety of Korean favor foods, and other diverse sorts of gourmets are appealing to various appetites that search for great enjoyment.
