We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Temple of Earth Fair

Temple of Earth (Ditan Park) is the second large in Beijing five temples and also the largest place for sacrificing in existence. It is situated in Andingmen Street in Dongcheng District with an area of 37.4 hectares. It was firstly built in 1530 in Ming Dynasty to worship deities. In 1984, it was ranked as the cultural relics protection units in Beijing.


















Temple fair is a sort of ancient folk cultural activity in Spring Festival for Han nationality. Temple of Earth fair has been hold for 30 years consecutively, which was originally held in 1985. It is well-known at home and abroad for the brilliant national feature. Temple of Earth fair is often held from the first day to the seventh day in     the first month of the lunar year with the theme of special purchases for the Spring Festival, offering land and entertainment.

Sacrificing the earth is a unique traditional activity imitating Qing Dynasty. It reappeared the picture that the emperors in Qing Dynasty worshiped the earth to beg for peace and prosperity. The performance starts at 10:00am everyday from the day before Lunar New Year to the 7th day of Lunar New Year. Folk shows from other places also appear on the stage including lion dance from Cangzhou city, drum performance from Shanxi province, waist drum performance from Ansai county, etc.


















Snack from different areas is another characteristic in the temple of earth fair, attracting lots of tourists. Authentic representative of Chinese diet are invited to the fair such as Donglaishun Restaurant, Baikui Laohao, Huguo Temple Snack, Wonton Hou, Tea-soup Li, etc. In addition, more than 200 sorts of local flavors from other areas are prepared to satisfy travelers from different places.
