We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Ventriloquism (口技) is a kind of folk performance in which actor imitates all kind of sound with mouth such as train sound, bird tweet, etc. Now, it has been listed as one of valuable culture and art heritages.

The history of Ventriloquism
Ventriloquism has a early history which could be traced back to primitive times. At that time, in order to hunt, ancestors often intimated birds’ voice to bait for quarry or sound scarely to drive out wild animals.

















According to the historical record, as early as 289 years ago in Warring States Period, retainer of Meng Changjun imitated crow to help Meng Changjun escape danger, which is the earliest record about ventriloquism. Ventriloquism as an act turned up in Song Dynasty. The opera in Song Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty added bark and crow which were performed by ventriloquist people behind the scenes.

In Qing Dynasty, ventriloquism can organized into a whole story with different sounds instead of the one sound in the first instance. The ventriloquism actors hided behind the scene, gave out all kinds of sounds accompanying with actions. On 18th, May, 2010, ventriloquism applied by Xuanwu District, Beijing, was listed into the third national intangible cultural heritage.
