We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Gin Nationality

Description: Gin nationality (京族) is an ancient ethnic minority with a history of more than 500 years. His ancestor migrated to China from Vietnam. They mainly populate in Dongxing city, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Prefecture. In 1950s, Wutou, Neixin and Manwei Autonomous County were set up.

Language: Gin language is the same as Vietnamese.

Religion: Gin especially believe in the god relative with sea.


















Clothing Character: Gin men usually wear a knee length coat with narrow sleeves. The chest is open and the waist ties a belt. Women are dressed in a tight collarless coat and wide trousers. When going out, they put on a long light-colored gown of qipao style. The most characteristic decoration is the bamboo hat.

Food Culture: Gin mainly engage in fishing, so they are fond of fish, shrimp and crab. They like to eat sweet food, because they view “sweet” as the symbol of happiness. They are also like to take sweet sticky rice. Nian juice is one of the specialties of Gin nationality. It is a sort of seasoning sauce made from little fish and shrimp.

Festivals: Gin, just like Han, spend the Spring Festival, Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-autumn Day. Besides that, the most bustling and solemn day for Gin is Ha festival. On that day, people dress up and sing traditional song all through the night.


















Art and Culture: Gin people are good at singing and dancing. They have tune of song as many as 30, containing a wide range of content. Chao opera is traditional Gin opera, performed in the folk. Seven or eight peasants wear traditional clothing, playing different roles.

Single-string instrument is the unique instrument of Gin. The body is 75-cm long, consisting of 3 pieces of wood chip or half plate of bamboo tube. A string is fixed from one end to another. The sound it plays is very pleasant.
