Guest Reviews:

We went to New Jiuzhai on march 2008, with no big expectations after having read the hotel reviews in trip advisor (besides, the hotel doesn't look very good from the outside). However, we had a great surprise when we found a great service (yet, only the manager speaks english) and a large and clean room. Plus, the hotel manager helped us with a problem we had with our airplane tickets, calling the company, speaking with everyone and doing his best to solve it. Maybe this great service was because the hotel had just open from the winter break and we were the first customers of the hotel, but our experience with the service was excellent. The room was really nice as well. The only thing that matched with the reviews we read was that, indeed, it was really cold in the bathroom! I'd definitely come back to New Jiuzhai, it was great value for little money (we paid 260 RMB per night, but this, once again, may be due to the period we went, with few tourists).

My wife and I stayed there for 2 nights as part of a 2 week tour of China. The hotel is beautiful, with a glass atrium enclosing a replica of a Tibetan village, which houses bars, restaurants, and shops. The resort is quite large, with over 1,000 rooms, plus a spa, and various other amenities. The service is friendly enough, but it is obvious that they need to learn a little more about what kind of service really goes into a so-called 5 star hotel. The buffet breakfast and dinner is OK; nothing overly fancy, and it will get you through the day.
