Thank you so much for the awesome service today! Steven Zhang and the driver, Mr Liu, were great for our trip to Chengdu. Steven was on the platform exactly where we stepped off of the train, and he did a great job as our local guide in Chengdu. The van for the tour was clean and in good condition. Everything was as good as possible. We are so glad we went to Chengdu for the cute giant panda. That was the most wonderful part of the trip. The guide, Steven I think, was the very best. If I have a chance to visit China again, I will use your services again and I also will recommend to all my friends. I'm hoping the coach tours will be a great experience as well.
Thanks again,
Jack Benzel
Chengdu Panda Base, full name of Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, is a non-profit research and breeding facility for giant pandas and other rare animals. The panda base was set up in 1987. At the beginning, there were only 6 giant pandas that were rescued from the wild. By 2007, it has had 110 panda births, and the captive panda population has grown to 62.
Its stated goal is to "be a world-class research facility, conservation education center, and international educational tourism destination." It is the first giant panda breeding institution in China to cooperate with field education experts from abroad, as well as the first to provide education in both urban and remote rural areas. It has designed programs for universities, middle schools, and primary schools, and set up young zoologist projects, volunteer and teacher workshops, and seasonal camps to help more people understand and protect giant pandas and other wildlife.
