The Bund and Small Pool of Rainwater

If you plan your Shanghai tour, you don’t want to miss the Bund. It is a waterfront in the central Shanghai. Running along the western bank of Huangpu River, the promenade parallels a section of Zhongshan Road (No.01 East Zhongshan Road) within the former Shanghai Concession-Era buildings.

The sharp contrast between the historical block of the colonial buildings on the west side of the Bund and the trendy and futuristic skyscrapers on the Pudong skyline across Huangpu River on the east draws huge crowds of visitors coming to the Bund everyday. The best time to stroll along the Bund is in the evening when lights are lit up on the both sides of the buildings, a wonderland of dazzling electric lights.

The beauty and charm of the Bund doesn’t end at its neon effects in the evening. A pool of rainwater can make the Bund a magical place! Each time I visit Shanghai, I would make a pilgrimage trip to the Bund, my favorite place for ever. My latest early morning stroll along the Bund gives me a pleasant surprise with its surreal charm of rainwater reflection!

Last night rain has left a pool of rainwater on the promenade of the Bund, just plain water without any fancy. But the rainwater touches the magic of reflection and imagination,  creating an artistic inverted Pudong skyline!

I waste no time to catch the awesome moments by taking the photos of the rainwater reflections of Pudong Skyline on the Bund.

Next time, hopefully you can also encounter a pool of rainwater when you hit the Bund.
