  26. Hello Simon,

Has your private transfer been booked through tour-beijing.com? As far as I know, the arrival of Hongqiao Railway Station has two exits – north and south. It is better to decide which gate you will exit when you book your private transfer. We normally ask our clients to exit from the North Exit. So the driver will wait for passengers at the north exit. If tour-beijing.com private driver tells you to meet you at the departure, please let us know by send your email to [email protected] or your trip advisor. Have a nice transfer!

    Thank you

  33. I wolud like to catch a bus from Hongqiao Railway station to Pudong International aiport. Well, i know there is a subway but am arriving in Shanghai for the first time and wont like to travel underground….i want to have a view of shanghai town as i transit from railway station to the Pudong Int airport

    Thanks

  34. Hello Robert,

Yes, walk about 460m for Hongqiao East Transportation Hub (达虹桥枢纽东交通中心站). Please note the transportation hub is designed both for Hongqiqo Railway Station and Hongqiao Airport since the train station and the airport are connected.

From the Hongqiao East Transportation Hub, you take the shuttle bus for Pudong airport: 56.7km, one and half hour and bus fare RMB 30 from 6:0am to 11:00pm.

  35. From which website can you buy train tickets online? Does HongQiao railwaystation have its own webpage to order tickets from online?
It is more expensive to order tickets online?

    Thank you

  36. Hello Sofie,

The only official train ticket booking is in Chinese ( http://www.12306.cn/mormhweb/ )

Online and offline train ticket booking has the some price.

If it in Chinese holiday, you go to Hongqiao Railway Station and buy your tickets on the spot.

  37. Thankful for the info above. I’ve taken both the metro (subway) and the direct shuttle bus between Hongqiao and Pudong before. I prefer the shuttle bus because it has been quicker. Traffic conditions can drastically change that. The cost difference of 9RMB and 30RMB is negligible.
What I can’t remember and must ask is, where to buy the ticket for the shuttle bus? I need to give someone else instructions and I’ve forgotten if I bought it at a counter or on the bus? Also to confirm, it is at the Buses (East) gate correct?

    Happy New Year!

  38. Hello Chuck,

Yes, the shuttle bus is quicker since it is a non-stop bus drive. This is the Shuttle Bus No.1 (机场一线) and the Official Enquiry Phone: 021-68346612.
The Shuttle Bus No.1 starts from Hongqiao East Transportation Hub (达虹桥枢纽东交通中心站) to Pudong airport: 56.7km, one and half hour and bus fare RMB 30 operated from 6:0am to 11:00pm.

Hongqiao East Transportation Hub (达虹桥枢纽东交通中心站) is located on the first floor of Terminal 2 of Hongqiao Airport. It is about a 500m walk from Hongqiao Railway Station to Hongqiao East Transportation Hub ( Just following the direction signboard ). You can easily buy your bus ticket at the ticketing counter at the hub.

  39. I will be arriving from Shenzhen about 2.00pm to Hongqiao airport – I trust it will be terminal 2. I take it I walk from there to Hongqiao railway station which seems to be attached to T2 of the airport?
I then need to book a ticket to Suzhou, could you please tell me which platform or track I would be leaving from to get there – my rough understanding is it will be train G7134?
Do I then wait on level 2, watching the screens at the appropriate gate & then walk downstairs at the appropriate time to catch the train?
I’m not Chinese speaking and will be travelling on my own, so just trying to work my way through the basics of getting onto the right train.
    Kind regards
    David

  40. Hello David,

Welcome to Shanghai! Shanghai is an international metropolis with English signs everywhere, especially at public places like airports and train stations. You won’t feel alienated while you are in Shanghai. Just take it easy.

    1) Yes, you can easily walk fromn T2 to the affiliated Hongqiao Railway Station.

    2) Just go to a ticketing office to buy your next high speed train for Suzhou ( just 30 minutes’ train ride!). You know there are over 100 daily high speed trains from Shanghai Hongqiao to Suzhou Railway Stations including G7134 (14:07) for Suzhou. So less than 10 minutes there will be a highspeed train from Shanghai to Suzhou!! Most of them are passing by trains and don’t miss your station.

    3) Yes, you just follow the English sign pointing to the Level 2 and find your departure gate through seeing the huge electric screen, then walk to the gate where you will put your train ticket into a slot, just like taking metro, then you will go down to the plateform. Don’t forget to take your train ticket after using your ticket.

    4) Basically, only within 10 or 15 minutes are you allowed to go down to the platform to be on your train. The walk from the ticketing office to the level 2 normally takes you just a few minutes. So, youjust buy a highspeed train departing within next half hour otherwise you have to wait on the level 2.

By the way, please read my following posts relative to Suzhou, which are maybe useful to you:

  42. Hello Van,

Highspeed trains from Shanghai to Ningbo start from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, just a two-hour train ride. There are 20 daily highspeed trains from Shanghai to Ningbo. So just take it easy. When you get to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, you go to the ticketing office to buy the next closest train to Ningbo. Have a good trip!
