Plan your Qufu tour? Qufu is located in the southwest of Shandong Province. As a Chinese cultural and historical city, Qufu is the cradle of Chinese ancient emperors in politics and ideology.

Qufu is also famous as the birthplace of Confucius who was the most celebrated ideologist, politician, educationist, and the initiator of Confucianism in later Spring and Autumn Period. Its time-honored history and civilization as well as gorgeous oriental culture make it world-widely popular. Nowadays, Qufu is also called Oriental Jerusalem by many westerners.

Confucius Temple 孔庙
Confucian temple is a temple devoted to the memory of Confucius and the sages and philosophers of Confucianism. The largest and oldest Temple of Confucius is found in Confucius’s hometown, present-day Qufu in Shandong Province.

The main body of the spacious temple is organized around a central axis, giving it a symmetrical and precise design. There are nine courtyards both in front and back of the temple. The noticeable harmony of the architecture and nature reflect the breadth and depth of Confucian thought.

Cemetery of Confucius 孔林
Cemetery of Confucius is located in the north gate of Qufu.The Cemetery of Confucius is the exclusive tombs of Confucius and his family members. Confucius as well as more than 100,000 of his descendants was buried here.

As a family cemetery, the Cemetery of Confucius stands unique in the world without precedents for its long duration, the number of tombs and the intact preservation. It is the product of the dominant status of Confucianism in China’s feudal societies for a very long period of time.

Kong Family Mansion 孔府
Kong is the family surname of Confucius and his descendants in. The mansion is where the first son and the first grandson of Confucius lived. The Kong Family Mansion is the largest of its kind in Chinese history.

Covering 39 acres, the mansion grounds house 463 buildings such as halls, pavilions, and towers that are divided into three parts. The Eastern part is the family temple, the Western institute and the Central main buildings. The Central part is then divided into two sections with the front being the office and the family residence behind. The garden is located at the back of the residence.

Cemetery of Mencius’s Parents 孟母林
The Cemetery of Mencius’s Parents is the tomb of Mencius’s Parents which is located at Fu Village, 13 kilometers of the south of Qufu.With a height of 9 meters, the cemetery is situated at the foot of Mt. Saddle. In front of the cemetery array such sculptures as stone table, stone chair, stone bottle as well as Imperial Stele established in Yuan and Ming Dynasty.

Along a street in the south of the cemetery have standing houses, lying sheep as well as ancient cypress. Some of the cypresses are empty in the center, however, the leaves on the branches are flourishing.

Weishan Lake  微山湖
Weishan Lake is located at the Weishan County, which is on the south of Shandong Province. Weishan Lake is the largest freshwater lake in northern China. Weishan has a long history and lots of historic sites. Weishan Lake got its name from the man named Weizi who was cousin of Emperor in Yin Dynasty.

There are beautiful scenery, rich resources and many scenic spots in the Weishan Lake. Within Weishan Lake, the rich and unique natural resources like the lake, the mountain, the island, the forest, water lily marshes and reed marshes all form a natural beauty of both wildness and heartthrob.

How to get there: take a bus from Qufu to Weishan County, and transfer to Wishan Hu Port.
