  1. Hello ! Would like to know if we still can see yellow and bright colour leaves in early November since we like to avoid October peak season – will it rain or have foggy view as it is no good for scenic photography – floating cloud will be perfect – appreciate your advice

  2. Hello Laurence Lim,

Yes, you still can catch the final autumn hues with photogenic views at Zhangjiajie in early November. It is hard to predict rain or foggy view, but the temperature will be a little low with a big drop of temperature between day and night. So be ready for some warm jackets. Have a good trip!

  3. Hi Daniel,

Sorry for the late reply to say THANK YOU for your valuable input and sharing.

I will be there in early November to enjoy taking good scenery photos !

    Warmest regards
    Laurence Lim

  4. Hi, I’m planning a trip to Zhangjiajie at the end of this months. Do you think I’ll be able to see anything, or it might be too foggy? I don’t mind the rain! 🙂

    Best wishes,
    Gosia

  5. Hello Gaoxia,

Zhangjiajie has twice more tree species than the whole Europe. So don’t be afraid that all the trees will be bald in Zhangjiajie in late November. You will see see green color there. In addition, people come to Zhangjiajie mainly to see the weird and unique quartzite sandstone pillars, a type of karst formation. Maybe a little rain, or even snow ( slightly possible ).

Have a good time in Zhangjiajie!

  6. Hi,
l plan to visit Zhang Jia Jie end of May 2013, how will be the condition like there at that moment?

  7. Hello Abigail,

The end of May is a good time to visit Zhangjiajie. Just wear shorts and T shirts. But be ready for insect repellant to keep off mosquitos. Also bring to your umbralla. Have a good time in Zhangjiajie.

  8. Dan,
TQ, does that mean the weather’s hot? My hubby n l prefer to go on our own as we prefer free n easy trip. What are the scenic places u’ll suggest us to visit. We plan to spend a week there. Thank again.

  9. Hi,
When is the best period to see flowers on mountain during spring season? 1 – 10 April 2014?
Many thanks for your advice in advance

  10. Hello Shannon,

Early April is a good time to view the mountain flowers in Zhangjiajie. Have a nice trip!

  11. I would like to visit ZhangJiaJie, but my only options are national holidays because of working. I’m wondering how much will an average room, or a hostel room cost during national holiday in October. I’ve heard it can be really expensive

  12. Hi, what’s the weather during this month around 3rd or 4th week? What is difference in the condition this month and next month in terms of weather and flower sceneries and greeneries?

  13. Hello Cheryl,

According to historical climate record, the 3rd or 4th week in Zhangjiajie’s temperature is approx. 22℃ (daytime) and 10℃(night), some rain and shower. So it is still cold and bring your winter clothes in the moutainous area.

The April Temperatrure is about 26℃ and 15℃, also a bit rain.

April is better than March in terms of flower sceneries and greeneries.

  14. Hi jus to check, what is the difference in scenery if i go on end oct and end nov?

which is better? oct or nov?

  15. Hello Li,

As far as I know, the late October is the best time for viewing the autumn foliage in Zhangjiajie. But the peak season will attract huge crowds of domestic tourists. If you travel in November, you will sacrifice the best fall view in October a bit for more comfort and less crowded in November.

  16. Hi,
I plan to visit Zhangjiajie from Nov 28th to Dec 1st. Is this the right time ? Will it be too foggy?

  17. Hello Nikhil,

Historically, the temperature from Nov 28th to Dec 1st in Zhangjiajie ranges from 15 ℃ to 5℃. You need to wear a warm jacket and bring an umbralla in case of rain. If it rains, the weather will be a bit foggy. Generally, it is ok to visit Zhangjiajie during that time of the year.

  18. I plan to visit guilin, yangshuo n tiamenshan in end dec. Wat is tge weather like especially in tian
    menshan?

  19. Hello Yeo Yien Hoe,

At the end of December, it is very cold in Tianmenshan and Zhangjiajie as a whole. Wear warmly and bring an embrella in case of rain.

  20. Hi Daniel!

I plan to travel to Zhang Jia Jie end of Dec until early Jan 2016, and i guess it’s all white there, doesn’t it? Is there any green or other colour that I could enjoy the various ambience instead all the white scenery ?? Will it be raining everyday, and is it safe to climb all the way to mountain or there will be restricted closed for some of the best attraction due to the safety reason ?

  21. Hi Anita Lestari Halim,

Yes, the possibility of snowing during that time of the year is great. If snow, eveywhere will be blanketed by white snow and fog. Sometimes it will rain with heavy fog. So late December and early Jan are not the good season to enjoy the amazing landscapes in Zhangjiajie. The cable cars are out of service during the low season and you have to climb the mountains. It seesm there are no restricted places.

Have a good in time in Zhangjiajie!

  22. I JUST WOULD LIKE TO ASK IF THE ENTRANCE FEE TO WULINGYUAN SCENIC AREA AND TIANMEN MOUNTAIN IS ONLY ONE. I MEAN IS IT A THOROUGH FEE TO BOTH SIGHSEEINGS? SO HOW MUCH IS THE ENTRANCE FEE IF I VISIT WULINGYUAN AND TIANMEN MOUNTAIN SCENIC AREAS? THANK YOU VERY MUCH .

  23. Hi ROMMEL,

The two sites sell entrance tickets separately, no combo tickets.

Wulinyuan: RMB 248 through ticket for Wulingyuan

Tianmenshan: RMB CNY 258 + Cable car RMB 40

  24. Hi Daniel,

I have a plan to visit Zhangjiajie and Xi’an on 20-26 Nov 2016, how is the weather and the temperature? Also are we still can catch the autum?
    Thanks

  25. Hi Indah,

Autumn is just over at the end of November. The temperature is getting lower at Zhangjiajie and you should wear warmly.

  26. Hi,

    1) Would zhangjiajie still be cover in snow at end feb (feb 22 onwards) or is just misty

    2) March/April/May? Which is a better month with most beauty in scenery?

  27. Hi Olivia,

    1) It all depends. Basically December is the month when snow most likely falls on Zhangjiajie.

    2. The scenery of Zhangjiajie in April or May is more or less the same. But April is less crowded than May.

  28. Hi, my family will be visiting zhangjiajie from 15 nov to 22 Nov 16 , is it a good period to visit.. ? Will I be seeing the beauty of autumn or the start of winter season(snow sight)? For your feedback and suggestions. Tks..

  29. Hi Raymond,

Mid-November is the transit time from the autumn to the winter in Zhangjiajie. The first half of Novenmber is still comfortable with the temperature above 20℃. The the later half of the month will be a little bit cold, but the temperature still keeps above 10℃ with a big temperature difference between day and night. You should wear winter jackets in the evening or during your hike up to the mountains.

At the end of November, you are still able to catch the last minute auntumn hues in Zhangjiajie.

Have a nice time in Zhangjiajie!

  30. We would like to visit zhangjiajie on 18 december, how is the temperature during 18- 23 december?

The cable car, can we use it during that day?

    Thanks

  31. Hi Andrew,

As you know, it’s really hard to predict the exact temperature during that period from now. But I can tell you the temperature of last year on the same period for your reference: roughly 9℃ (day) and 4 ℃ in the evening.

Yes, the cable car is available during the day.

    Have a nice time!

  32. Hi, i want to go to zhangjiajie in late december, but i was wondering if by any chance the National Forest Park, Tianamen or the Grand Canyon would be closed.

and if it is open, its better i buy the tickets when im in zhangjiajie or to buy it online? wich website do you recommend?

  33. Hi Ong,

Thanks for your inquiry! Personally I’ve never had any experience taking the flights. It seems I would prefer the direct flight if the fight is available.

  34. Hi Daniel, I have been reading with interest the comments in relation to the Tianmen region visits.
Having just decided to not go to China in May I am now wondering to change my mind. to fit everything in I am thnking of doing an organised tour around the popular tick places and then add the Zhangjaijei section. I am a little confused with the interchange of the names Tianmen and Zhangjaijei are they the same area just divided into different areas/tours or are they different areas and require further transport to get there? Also what is transport from Chongqing to Zhangiajei and return as that is the departure airport to home? Hope you can help clarify some things.

  35. Hi Merrilyn,

    Thanks for your inquiry!

    1. Generally speaking, Zhangjiajie refers to Zhangjiajie City ( downtown area ) as well as Zhangjiajie Scenic Area ( also officially known as Wulingyuan Scenic Area).

    2. Zhangjiajie Scenic Area ( Wulingyuan Scenic Area) is located about 30 km north of Zhangjiajie City ( Downtown ). Wulingyuan Scenic Area is listed as World Cultural Heritage. So most of the visitors go to Wulingyuan Scenic Area.

    3. Tianmen region is very close to the city of Zhangjiajie ( on the east of the city ). There is a long cable starting from the downtown of Zhangjiajie up to the summit of Tianmen Mountain. You can take cable car up to Tianmen. So theorectically, you can visit Tianmen from the city of Zhangjiajie.

Basically most people would first go to Wulingyuan ( about 30km north of Zhangjiajie City ), then return to Zhangjiajie City to visit Tianmen.

    ————–

No direct flight and train between Chongqing and Zhangjaijie. Basically you need to transit at Changsha (长沙) either by flight or train to get to Zhangjiajie. Changsha is a large city, the capital of Hunan Province. Zhangjiajie City is about 320 km northeast of Changsha.

Two ways to get from Chongqing to Zhangjiajie and back:
1.Chongqing – high speed train – Changsha – Normal train – Zhangjiajie and vice versa
    2.Chongaong – flight – Changsha – flight – Zhangjiajie and vice versa

You can easily book flight or train tickets by using ctrip below:

Have a nice time in Zhangjiajie!

  39. Dear Chuah,

Yes, you can though it is not the best time. But considering the fact that it is less crowded with tourists, it is not bad to visit Zhangjiajie during the time. Enjoy your trip!

  40. Hi..I wish to visit zjj during 1 Nov 2017,is this a best n good time to visit? Is this date still can see nice scenery?

  41. hi

I planning to visit Zhangjiajie during 5 – 10 December, is the best and good time to visit? On this date can we view nice scenery?

  42. Dear Vesta,

5 – 10 December is not the best time. Yes,you still can view the scenery, but not in the autumn hues.

  43. Hi I m considering btw these two dates to Zhang jia jie , 3 Dec or 17 Dec, will the scenery for these two periods a big difference? A lot of snow and nth much to see on 17 Dec? Better to go in early Dec thinking that less foggy and less snow?
