When is the best time to visit Guizhou?

Spring in Guizhou is warm and humid, rains frequently, it is the best time to rice planting. January is the coldest month in a year, with the temperatures ranging from 1 to 10°C. If visitors come to Guizhou during the Spring Festival and in early spring, they can experience the diverse ethnic cultures in Guizhou, because most of the ethnic traditional festivals are held during that time.
 
Guizhou in Summer
Summer in Guizhou can get hot during June and July. July is the hottest month in a year, with the temperatures ranging from 17 to 28°C. Guizhou is an ideal summer resort due to the temperate climate. In the fresh early morning of summer in Guizhou, you can take a walk. There are many good walks along the river and into the Miao villages nearby. Summer is the rainy season, make sure to take an umbrella with you. The best time to visit Huangguoshu waterfall is June to early October after the rains in summer and early autumn.

Autumn is also a nice season for traveling to Guizhou, especially early autumn. In the fall, the average temperature and rainfall are lower than summer, usual sunshine time equally with the average value. The moist, subtropical climate has brought abundance of flowers and trees to Guiyang, earning it the name “City of Gardens”.
 
Guizhou in Winter
Winter in Guizhou is not very cold which is a good place for proofing against the bitter weather. It is a relatively low season for visitors to come. Not so many tourists come to Guizhou in Winter now. It’s the cheapest season to come. Guizhou special winter tour products are in developed now. No. 01: Huangguoshu Waterfall
Huangguoshu Waterfall, which is also known as Yellow Fruit Tree Waterfall, is one of the largest waterfalls in China and Asia located on the Baihe River in
AnshunGuizhou Province.
The main waterfall is 67 meters high and 83.3 meters wide. The scene changes while you are standing in different places. There is a cave in the rare wall of the waterfall called “Water-Curtain Cave”. In Chinese, we call it “Shui Lian Dong”. It allows visitors to not only view, but also hear and touch the waterfall. Huangguoshu Waterfall is one of few waterfalls that can be viewed from every side in the world. Huangguoshu Waterfall is a really famous attraction and definitely worth a visit.

How to get there: There are long-distance buses from Anshun Train Station, South Station and West Station to Huangguoshu Waterfall every day.
 
No. 02: Qianling Park
Covering an area of 426 hectares, Qianling Park is situated on Qianling Hill 1.5 kilometers from the center of Guiyang City. Built in 1957, it is a uniquely large park in the city proper and a AAAA National Tourist Attraction.
The name was derived from the Qianling Mountain that lies in the park. There are eight predominant scenic spots in Qianling Park: Sanlingwan, Macaque Garden, Hongfu Temple, Kylin Cave, the Zoo, Qianling Lake, Two-Dam Wind-Rain Bridge, and the Winding Mountain Path.

No. 03: Jiaxiu Tower
Jiaxiu Tower, also called “the first scholar’s tower”, is situated on Fuyu Bridge over the Nanming River. Jiaxiu Tower is the first choose for those people who come to Guiyang.
Jiaxiu Tower, which is built in 1598, is a 20-metre-high, three-floor structure with a three-eave hipped roof. It is said that Jiaxiu Tower is the symbol of Guiyang. Once you arrived there, you need to pay 10 yuan to go up to the top of the tower. It looks nice to see when you go there at night just when they started turning on the light of the tower.

No. 04: Qingyan Ancient Town
Qingyan Ancient Town, which is located at the south suburb of Guiyang, is one of the four ancient towns of Guizhou. It is about 29 kilometers away form the downtown area. Bcause of its long history and strong cultural atmosphere, ingyan Ancient Town is regarded as the most attractive town of China.
Qingyan Ancient Town covers an area of 3 square kilometers. Qingyan Ancient Town has a well-planned architectural style, hundreds of sites of relics, and an influential local culture. As a military garrison during ancient times, Qingyan Ancient Town was built of stone. What’s more, there are Buddhists, Nazarenes and Romanists in this town. Qingyan Ancient Town is really a good place for you to learn about Chinese ancient culture.

No. 05: The Dragon Palace Cave
The Dragon Palace Cave Scenic Spot (also called Longgong Cave) is 27 kilometers southwest of Anshun city en route to Huangguoshu Waterfall in Guizhou Province.
The Dragon Palace Cave is a magnificent underground cave system with lakes, waterfalls and stalactites, covering an area of almost 60 square kilometers. The scenic spot has four main areas, namely, the Rape Lake, the Whirlpool, the Leech Pass and the Dragon Palace itself. It is a comfortable place for people to relax because the radiation frequency in this region is the lowest in China.

No. 06: Chishui Scenic Spot
Chishui Scenic Spot is located in Chishui City in northern Guizhou Province. It is well known both at home and abroad for Chishui River War where the Red Army traversed in the road of the famous Long March.
Chishui is rich in natural resources. Chishui Scenic Spot covers an area of 116 square miles and boasts a wide variety of green forests, waterfalls, rivers and creeks, lakes and plants. Chishui city is also famous for its unique Danxia Landform. The abundant natural resources and the rich historical and cultural background together with the convenient traffic have made Chishui an ideal tourist attraction for visitors all over the world.

No. 07: Langde Miao Ethnic Minority Village
Miao people are everywhere in southwest China, mostly in Guizhou Province. The Langde Miao Ethnic Minority Village is about 50 kilometers north of Kaili, Guizhou.
You can distinguish different Miao people from their dialect, dress, location and other customs. Regarding dress, there are Long Skirt Miao, Short Skirt Miao, Black Miao, Flowery Miao and Long Horned Miao. The villagers in Langde wear long skirts and they are called “Long Skirt Miao”. The Miao style houses ’Diaojiaolou‘ exhibits traditional Miao architecture.

How to get there: The bus to the Snow Mountain passes through Langde Miao Ethnic Minority Village, you can get off at the half way and walk there.
 
No. 08: Hongfu Temple
Hongfu Temple, which is a sight spot in Qianling Park, is situated at the northwest of Guiyang. Hongfu Temple is regarded as the most famous Buddhist site in Guizhou.
Hongfu Temple was built in 1667. On entering the gate of the temple, you will see the Bell Tower and the Drum Tower on both sides. Hongfu Temple has red walls and green tiles. The gate is caved with five golden characters. The first hall is Heavenly King Hall, you can see paintings on the wall; the second hall is Bodhisattva Hall, you can see Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara with 32 arms; and the third hall is Mahavira Hall, you can see gilded statues of Sakyamuni and the 18 Arhats.

No. 09: Jiudongtian Scenic Area
Jiudongtian Scenic Area is located at Dafang County, Bijie City of Guizhou Province which covers an area of 80 square kilometers.
In Jiudongtian scenic area, it is neither hot in summer nor cold in winter. The vegetations there are green all the year around. Because there are nine branch caves in the area, hence the name Jiudongtian. It has rare features which are to be found both above and below ground. There are nine caves in this area: Yuegongtian, Leitingtian, Jinguangtian, Hulutian, Yuyutian, Xiangwangtian, Yunxiaotian, Baozangtian and Daguantian.

No. 10: Hongfeng Lake
Hongfeng Lake, which is situated in Pingba County of Qingzhen City, is 33 kilometers away from Guiyang. Hongfeng Lake is considered to be the pearl of the Guizhou Plateau.
Hongfeng lake gets its name from the many maple trees on the surrounding mountain ranges whose leaves turn red every autumn. As the largest artificial lake on the Guizhou Plateau, Hongfeng Lake covers a total area of 57.2 square kilometers. Hongfeng Lake is composed of four parts: the North Lake, the South Lake, the Middle Lake and the Rear Lake. Hongfeng Lake is an ideal tourist destination for you.
