How to Visit Xiamen University

Plan your Xiamen tour? If you interested in having a glimpse of the most beautiful and romantic campus of universities in China, then Xiamen University should be on your list of attractions during your Xiamen trip.

A visit to Xiamen University could be connected with your trip to the South Putuo Temple. The South Gate of Xiamen University is just a few steps away from the South Putuo Temple. Actually the south gate of Xiamen University is on the west of the university and it is called “south” simply because it is very close to the South Putuo Temple.

Entrance ticket: Free of Charge. You may take bus 1,15,21,45, 841,and 959 from downtown Xiamen to Putuo Temple for a short visit, then walk to the south gate of Xiamen University.

Xiamen University was establsihed in 1921 by Tan Kah Kee, the famous patriotic overseas Chinese leader. Xiamen University was the first university in China sponsored by an overseas Chinese. Now it is one of China’s higher-level universities designated for the state key construction of the “211 Project” and the “985 Project”.

It is perched below the Wulao Peak and faces the sea with good fengshui. Basically start your visit to Xiamen University through the South Gate (next to the South Putuo Temple) and exit from its back gate (Baicheng Gate). The crescent white sand beach – Baicheng Beach is to the south of the Baicheng Gate, a perfect place for students in love.

Exit though its back gate (Baicheng Gate), you will meet the white sand beach – Baicheng Beach.
