1. The Great Wall
The Great Wall of China is one of the outstanding symbols of China’s ancient civilization. The Great Wall now exist in bits spanning over approx. ten thousand kilometers from its eastern tip at Shanhaiguan and its western tip at Jiayuguan. The Great Wall was built in diffeent or overlapping dynasties.
 
The Great Wall aroud Beijing, the wall extended from Beijing to its eastern tip at Shanhaiguan is relatively in better shape than other sections of the great wall. The wall winding from Beijing to Shanhuaguan was built, or reconstructed on the previous wall for over 10 years (1570 – 1580 ) in Ming Dynasty under the leadership of General Qi Jiguang (1528 –1588).
 
Beijing has an easy access to the Great Wall of China in such sections as Badaling Great Wall, Juyongguan Great Wall, Huanghuacheng Great Wall, Mutianyu Great Wall, Jinshanling Great Wall and Simatai Great Wall. 2. The Bund in Shanghai

If you want to see a China of 2000 years old, you should visit Xian; if you want to see a China of 1000 yeas old, you visit Beijing and if you want to see a China of 200 years old, you should visit Shanghai.
 
The Bund and its east skyline of Pudong new development zone is the avant-garde area in China and the world as well in arts, architecture, finance and etc.  The colonial-era buildings in early 1920s flanked by the bund and the most advanced and morden structures by its neighnbour in Pudong area across Huangpu river posts a sharp contrast to the fast development in Shanghai.

3. Terra-cotta Warriors in Xian
A glimpse of the terra-cotta Army on your Xian tour will definitley send you a strong cultural shock on your first time China tour. Discovered in 1974 by the four local farmers who drilled a well about 30km east of the downtown Xian. Later, the unearthened Terra-cotta Army was unquestionally the most important archaeological discovery in the last century, often regarded ad the eighth wonders in the world.
 
Standing inside one of the pits housing the life-sized terra-cotta soldiers, nobody won’t moved and touched in front of the masterpieces made 2000 years ago! These terra-cotta soldiers were used as bodyguards protecting the first emperor in Chinese history – Qin Shi Huang (259 BC – 210 BC), king of the Chinese State of Qin from 246 BC to 221 BC.
 
No unearthened terra-cotta soldiers are found to look alike – soldiers and officers well organized in infantry units and war chariots. The first emperor’s tomb next is still kept in intact. The time to open the tomb of Qin Shi Huang is unknown since the present science and technology is not advanced enough to protect the tomb once it is earthened.

4.Tiger Leaping Gorge
Tiger Leaping Gorge is the haven for hikers who seek to travel in a natural and scenic area. Each year Tiger Leaping Gorge attracts a great number of travelers from home and abroad. A scenic canyon on the Jinsha River ( the upper reaches of Yangtze River, the gorge lies 95km northwest of Lijiang, the most beautiful ancient city in Yunnan Province.
 
Lijiang is your springboard city to extend your hike to Tiger Leaping Gorge. So your Lijiang Tour should cover an excursion to the scenic gorge. 5. Yangtze River Cruise
Yangtze River is the longest river in China and the third in the world. Three Gorges & Dam Cruise is the highlight of the lifetime Yangtze River Cruise, which has been long sought after by romatic cruising lovers. Chongqing to Yichang route is by far the most travelled section of the Yangtze, winding through the Three Gorges and passing the namesake Dam.

6. Huangshan Mountain
Huangshan is the most beautiful mountain in China. It is located 240km to the west of Hangzhou and 40 minute flight from Shanghai. Huangshan Mountain is well known for its sunrise and sunset, granite peaks, the gnarled forms of ubiquitous Huangshan pine trees, and the other-worldly sea of the clouds. Also much of Mount Huang’s reputation comes from its significance in Chinese art, literature and profound cultural resources.
 
The World Heritage Committee of UNESCO listed Mt. Huangshan as Natural and Cultural Heritage in 1990. The nearby villages of Hongcun and Xidi were also named part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000. In 2002, Mount Huang was named the “sister mountain” of Jungfrau in the Swiss Alps.

7. Potala Palace in Lhasa
Potala Palace is the symbol of Tibet. A visit to Potala Palace is one of your highlights on your Lhasa tour. You may walk around Potala Palace in a clockwise direction, a religion kora and take some pictures of Potala Palace from different angles and spots. Wandering on the path around Potala Palace takes you about 40 minutes.  
 
The monastery-like palace, reclining against and Red Hill, was the religious and political center of old Tibet and the winter palace of Dalai Lamas.
The building measures 400 meters east-west and 350 meters north-south, with slopping stone walls averaging 3 m thick, and 5 m thick at the base and with copper poured into the foundations to help proof it against earthquakes.

8. Li River in Guilin
Li River is located in Guilin  and the cruise on Li River is the highlight of sightseeing tour in Guilin. The Li River winds and meanders its way for about 80 km from Guilin to Yangshou. The 80-km-long waterway from Guilin to Yangshuo resembles an artists’s masterpiece, painted with rolling mountains, featuring cliffs, unique caves, comfortable boats.
 
The 80-km water-way is flanked by the hills for about 40km. All the hills are lined with bamboo and green belt. Very often the cruise boats starts from Zhujiang Wharf. First you take about 40 minutes drive from Guilin city to the wharf. Then take 4 to 5 hours cruise to a beautiful and tranquil ancient city – Yangshuo.

9. The Silk Road
The history of Silk Road dates back to more than 2,000 years. It started in Chang’an (present Xian, Shaanxi Province) in the east and extended to Rome, Italy in the west.

The route passes through Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai Provinces, Ningxia Hui and Xinjiang Uygur autonomous regions and then stretches over the Pamirs, further extend to Central and West Asia and finally gets to the east bank of the Mediterranean Sea and Eastern Europe. 10. China’s Cuisine
Oversea foodies will have good food experience while traveling China simple because China is a foodie paradise for its rich variety of food. The big difference between Chinese and Western eating manner is that in the West, everyone has their own plate of food, while in China people share the dishes placed on the table.

Nuorilang Waterfalls is located in the Shuzheng Valley of Jiuzhaigou at the sea-level of 2365m. Jiuzhaigou literally means “Nine Village Valley” in Chinese. Listed as World Cultural Heritage in 1992, Jiuzhaigou is famous for its beautiful water – multi-level waterfalls and colorful lakes. Jiuzhaigou is located in Jiuzhaigou County of the Aba Tibetan Qiang Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province, 436km north of Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan Province.
Nuorilang Waterfalls is 270m wide, 24.5m high with a fall of 20m, a kind of calcified waterfalls, the widest waterfalls in China. “Nuorilan” in Tibetan means “great”. The best time to visit Nuorilang Waterfalls is in Spring and Autumn.

Huangguoshu Waterfalls is located in Anshu City of Guizhou Province in the northwest of China. The water is named after a locally popular tree named “Huangguoshu”. The waterfalls hight is 77.9m and waterfalls width is 101m. Huanghuoshu Waterfalls belongs to the typical karst eroded watewrfalls. Huangguoshu waterfalls exist in clusters, totaling 18 waterfalls in a 20,000m long river bed featuring greatness and elegance. In 1999, Huangguoshu Waterfalss is listed as the largest waterfalls clusters in the world by Guinness World Records.

Yellow River Hukou Falls 壶口瀑布 (the lergest yellow waterfalls in the world)
Hukou Falls is the most famous waterfalls roaring on the Yellow River, a symbol of Chinese civilization. It is located about 400km northeast of Xian and about 40km east of Taiyuan. “Hukou” literally means “the mouth of a kettle”. It refers to the the sudden narrowing of the river bed which causes the water fall of 9 meter, the largest yellow waterfalls in the world.

Top 10 Most Beautiful Grasslands in China

China has about 400 million hectares of natural grasslands, the second-largest in the world in terms of area, making up about a third of China’s total land area, the second-largest in the world in terms of area, extending from northeast China to Southwest China: Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Xinjiang, Gannan, Sichuan, Qinghai and Tibet.
 
But climate change, overgrazing and rural development have inflicted damage to 90 percent of these grasslands. In May, 2011, the Chinese government announced to sponsored a subsidy and reward program for the country’s herdsmen over the coming years in order to reverse and prevent the damage that has been caused to China’s grasslands.
 
Now I have listed the top 10 most beautiful grasslands below with the sincere hope that all of them will grow healthy with us for a better world. 
 
1.Narat Grasslands Yili Xinjiang 那拉提草原伊犁草
Narat Grassland is part of Yili Grassland (or  Ili Grassland ) in Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture Xinjiang China. Narat Grassland is about 180km long from east to west along the river bed sandwiched by the mountains of Tianshan in three sides. The famous Ili River zigzags through Ili Valley. Ili River is formed by its principal three tributaries - Kashi, Kunes, and Tekes. Kunes River is the upper reaches of Ili River, passing through the river bed of Narat Grassland.
 
Narat Grassland is a typical river bed grassland and the alpine meadows. Narat Grassland is located at the sea-level of 1800 meters. It is inhabitated by Kazakh minority (but ironically, here in Narat Grassland, we, Han people are the minority.

2.Bayinbuluke Grasslands Xinjiang 巴音布鲁克草原
Bayinbuluke Grassland is located in the middle of Tianshan Mountains, all year round surrounded by snow caped mountains on its four sides, in central Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on the sea level of 2500 meters with an area of 22,000 square km, the second largest grassland, just after Ordos Grassland.
 
Bayinbuluke literally means “rich with springs” in Monglian language. Bayinbuluke Grassland is typical of Grass meadow steppe, one of the most important herding and grazing area. The abundant rainfall,coupled by snow melting water, form zigzaging streams and lakes, making it one of the fast grass meadow growing place in Xinjiang. It is actually a huge swamp made up of many small connectedlakes, also a place for Nature Reserve for the swan in China.

3. Gannan Grassland 甘南草原
The Gannan Grassland is located within Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, southwestern Gansu Province. The grassland covers an area of over 2.5o million ha,  primarily within Gansu’s Maqu, Xiehe and Luqu counties. Luqu is a town on the fringe of Tibetan-Qinghai Plaetau with green alpine meadows in the west and the Tao River in the east. Two third of Luqu county is suitable for grazing livestock, like sheep and yak. Along the Tao River.

4. Ruoergai Grassland in Sichuan 若尔盖大草原 
Ruoergai Grassland is located in the north of Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province, and borders Maqu, Luqu of Gansu Province. It is on the east edge of Tibet-Qinghai Plateau with an altitude between 3000 and 3600 meters.
 
Ruoergai Grassland is said to be the fourth largest grasslands in Chinao. Ruoergai Grassland belongs to the kind of alpine meadow, also one of the China’s three largest wetlands, covering 10436.58 square kilometers. The best time to view the wildflowers of Ruoergai Grassland is between July and early September. Ruoergai Grassland is neither the greenest nor a fertile grassland, but what catches my eyes and makes my excited is its numerous wild flowers.

5. Hulun Buir Grassland 呼伦贝尔草原
The Hulun Buir Grassland is situated within the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region with a total area of over 93,000 square kilometres. It is named the Hulun Lake and the Buir Lake. It is reputed as the most beautiful grassland in Inner Mongolia  as well as one of three most beautiful grasslands in the world. Enclosed with over 3,000 rivers, 500 lakes, the Hulun Buir Grassland reasembles a huge natural green carpet. In summer, the Hulun Buir Grassland presents a peaceful and harmonious idyllic scene.

6. Xilin Gol Grassland 锡林郭勒草原

 The Xilin Gol Grassland is situated within Xilin Gol in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The Xilin Gol National Nature Reserve was set in 1985 and took prt in the International Man and Biosphere Reserve Network in 1987 to protect its environment and plateau grassland ecosystem.

There are great number of rare wild animals here, including swans, the red-crowned crane and bustards. The grassland is home to the biggest nature reserve ecosystem of its type in china.

7. 鄂尔多斯大草原
The Ordos Grassland is located 12 kilometers west of Hanggin Banner in Ordos, 430km west of Hohhot. The grassland, with and area of 600 square kilometers, consists of over 100 Mongolia yurts. The whole grassland is divided into song and dance area, entertainment area, accommodation area, fete area, Mongolian folk area and so on.
 
You also have the chance to take part in the traditional activities of Mongolia such as wrestling, horse riding, toxophily etc. The green grass wafts under the blue sky, and white sheep hides among the grass, appearing while wind blowing. The Ordos Grassland is like hovering lannerets always with warm greeting to the friends from all corners of the world.

8. Qilian Mountain Grassland 祁连山草原
As its name suggests, Qilian Mountain Grassland located at the foot of Qilian Mountain. The Qilian Mountain sits at the junction of Gansu and Qinghai provinces with a sea-level of between 4,000 – 5,000.

Differen from most other mountains where lives are missing above the snow line, Qilian Mountain is home to snow lotus, which is a rare medicinal material growing on the snow line. The best time to travel is in in July and August.

9. Shangri-la Grassland 香格里拉草原
Situated at the area where Tibet, Sichuan and Yunnan all meet, Shangri-La County is governed by Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. The Shangri-la Grassland is less populated and not very developed, thus the natural environment is comparqtively well preserved. The grassland is a habitat for many kinds of rare wild animals including yaks, Tibetan antelopes.

10. Naqu Grassland in Tibet 西藏羌塘草原  
The Naqu Grassland in Tibet is surrounded by mountains, covering a total area of about 40 million square kilometres and an average sea level of about 4,500 meters. The eastern part of the grassland is the only cultivable land in Northern Tibet. August is the best season to vsit Naqu Grassland since there will be a plenty of festive activities to beld on the grasslands.The Naqu Grassland is sparsely populated and not so developed, thus the natural environment is comparqtively well preserved. The grassland is a habitat for numerous rare wild animals including yaks, Tibetan antelopes and wild donkeys.
