I arrived in bejing and have round about 7 hours (after then my flight goes to Singapur) time to go out from the airport. I’m looking for a mall, where I can go for Lunch and a little bit shopping, by myself with the subway. Which one is in the near from the Airport and which subway number I must take?
Will be great if someone had a answer for me 🙂

    Thanks Arzu

  26. Hello Arzu,

You may go to Silk Street Market ( a 5-6 storey shoping plaza) where you can do shopping, cafe ( first floor), western and Chinese food (4th or 5th floor). You just take airport express train and get off at the final station of Dongzhimen, then interchange for subway line 2 in the south direction and get off at the third station of Jianguomen (建国门), then again interchange for subway line 1 in the east direction, and get off at just the next station of Yonganli (永安里), and exit from Exit A. The Silk Market Plaza is next to the exit.

By the way, the express train costs RMB25, the subway costs just RMB 2 for all( no extra pay for interchange). Have a good layover!

  29. Hi people, I´ve been more than 20 times in Beijing but last time is about 6 years ago. I´ve one very simple question: Where can I buy clothes but chinese style and material, no fakes and no western labels?? Just chinese clothes??? Thanks for help in this matter!!

  30. Hello Melanoie,

A very good question, but hard to answer. Chinese style clothes? Traditional Chinese or Modern Chinese? Ordinary Chinese clothes or Chinese clothes of famous brands? Chinese clothes for summer, or winter?

I suggest you go to the major department stores in Beijing to look for Chinese clothes. These department stores accommodate both western brands clothes and local brands.

For cheaper clothes, you may go to Silk Market and just avoid the fakes, and look for typical Chinese clothes. Good luck!

  31. Hello,

If you want to shop for something like furniture, kitchen accessories, you should go to the large furniture shopping centers, which are usually located outside the city center of Beijing. These kinds of furniture shopping malls are huge, you only find them in the suburbs. Just recommend one to you: Shilihe Furnisture City or Market (十里河家具城 or 市场). You may ask your hotel staff for the road direction to the furniture market.
