Rongbu Tang
(Toys made of downy materials with 400-year'history listed as China National intangible Cultural Heritage)
Rongbu Tang is both the nickname of Mr. Tang Qiliang, a famous craftsman and his products - toys with downy materials including wool and cotton (literally meaning "rongbu" in Chinese). Mr.Tang is 90 years old. he is the fourth generation of "Rongbu Tang." Tang started his apprenticeship at age 9; many years later, he had learned all the procedures concerned with the making of rongbu toys. At the age of 20, he was nicknamed "Rongbu Tang" for his excellent craftmanship. He now makes no more toys due to his high ages. His youngest daughter, Ms Tang Yujie has inherited his craftmanship and has opened a boutique store on Guozijian Dajie of on the Chengxian Street, selling Rongbu Tang products and other well known handicrafts. So she has opened a valuable showcase for Beijing folk arts, many of which are in the danger of extinction.
