We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Easily organised and great service

We booked this tour and another with Tour-Beijing, we booked with them based on great reviews on tripadvisor. It was an easy transaction with excellent communication from Helen He.

The Beijing city tours was a very enjoyable day. We were collected from our hotel by our local tour guide Kevin. He spoke very good english and we got on with him very well. He had a good sense of humour and he was passionate about his job.

We went to Tiananmen Square, it was a particularly cold day and we were there early. A few other groups were forming but because there was only three of us we managed to get going before the crowds. We were in front all the way.

We went across the road to The Forbidden City, what a fascinating place, its history and place in Beijings monastic history.

Im reading a book by Jung Chang called Empress Dowager Cixi, The Concubine who launched modern china. As I walked the palace grounds and corridors I found myself imagining her life in the walls of the Forbidden City. It was quiet impressive and intimidating at the same time.

She was also the mother of the last emperor of China, PuYi who was 5 years at the time of his crowning. It was very moving, to imagine a little boy being thrust into a responsibility so huge, not just running the Forbidden City but all of China. I didn't realise the extent, until walking this amasing monalith to the Chinese people.
From the Forbidden City we took a short car ride to a silk factory where we were shown the beginnings of a silk worm to the products that a made from their silk. We bought a king size doona with silk cover and 2 pillow slips for $120. Great price. We then went on to the Temple of Heaven which was a big park, and due to our tour being on a Saturday, lots of people were out exercising and dancing, it was great. The temples are very colourful and have been well maintained.

We then had a great lunch at a local function centre and then onto our last place on interest

The Summer Palace. This was a beautiful palace, with parkland, the worlds longest corridor and a beautiful lake which was currently frozen. Many people were skating on little carts or walking on it.
The corridor has a story illustrated by paintings along the corridor ceiling. It was facinating.

This also gave me a great feeling as I remembered the story of Cixi, this was her favorite place of contemplation, hopefully this place gave her the inspiration for the changes she made to allow China to grow into what it has become - she eradicated foot binding, allowed women to be educated as well as men, she stopped corporal punishment 'death by 1000 cuts', she created a political future for China.

Thankyou Tour-Beijing for the great time you provided to us.
